Ore Inc. can contribute in the collection of LEED points in four categories.
Material Content- Recycled content of our Aluminum and Steel
- Recycled raw material 47.77% - 66% recycled content in our Steel and Aluminum
"In 2008, we produced our steel products with over 59% post consumer scrap metal and over 6% post industrial scrap metal. Our total scrap metal consumption was over 66% scrap metal. This kept over 1.4 million tons of scrap metal out of our nation’s landfills and provided an outlet for abandoned cars that might otherwise blight our scenic landscape."

Indoor Environmental Quality- low emitting materials (adhesives and sealants)
- Low VOC (volatile organic compounds) Sealants
"There are three credits for the LEED rating system that apply to our sealants. These credits are Credit 5.1 of section MR, Credit 4.1 of section EQ, and Credit 4.2 of section EQ. Refer to specific LEED literature for details concerning credits and when they can be taken."

By applying dry resin in the form of powder to your product, we are able to bypass the release of dangerous liquid chemicals into the atmosphere. In many cases, you can earn LEED credit by using powder coating.
"The official test method for determining VOC’s is EPA Reference Test Method 24, which uses ASTM D2369 for determination of volatile content. EPA test conditions expose the specimen to 110 degrees Celsius for one hour. Under these conditions, powder coating can show a volatile loss of up to 1%. It can be shown by other tests, such as the Karl Fischer test which measure water only, that volatile content of = 1% is the result of moisture absorbed on the powder or in the raw materials used in the manufacture of the powder. Since water is not classified as a VOC, EPA Reference Test Method 24 shows that powder coating contain no VOC’s."
